Immerse Yourself in Nature, Yoga & Sound
A Weekend of Yoga & Hiking in Waterfall Country
Dates: Friday 1 September – Sunday 3 September
We are very excited to be offering this weekend away full of yoga, hiking in the glorious Brecon Beacons and evening gong sessions to complete your total relaxation.
Buckland Hall is usually reserved for conferences and larger events but every once in a while we have access to book in to this exclusive manor house that feels more like a home than a hotel. Though it’s only a few hours away from London, you’ll feel like you’ve arrived in a completely different world, with sweeping views of green expanse for as far as the eye can see.
The weekend includes two nights at the grand country mansion of Buckland Hall, dynamic flow classes on Saturday and Sunday morning, relaxing classes on Friday and Saturday evenings, gong baths to open and close the weekend, full organic vegetarian catering from the fantastic chef and a guided tour of the Four Falls walk – one of the most highly rated hikes in Wales where you can walk behind a waterfall.
Buckland Hall is an enchanting 4 star country mansion set in the depths of the rural Brecon Beacons mountains, with 62 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds and woodland to explore that include a stretch of the river Usk. Indulge yourself with vegetarian and organic food catered for by their chef, consisting of breakfasts, dinners, packed lunch on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. To ensure you truly relax and revitalise we’ll have energetic morning yoga on Saturday and Sunday and relaxing refreshing classes on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. A weekend at Buckland Hall itself is fabulous and it’s a great place to explore, but to make it even more exciting we’ll add in three stunning walks in the Brecon Beacon mountains taking in waterfalls, mountains, caves and more.
Friday 01 September
Arrive at Buckland Hall from 5pm. An early yoga class at 6pm for those who have arrived and then we’ll then have dinner there shortly afterwards before coming together for the opening Gong Bath led by the wonderful Patricia Carlota.
Saturday 02 September
Morning yoga at 8am followed by a fantastic breakfast of healthy fare including the tastiest overnight oats you’ll find anywhere.
We’ll take packed lunches and head out for the Four Waterfalls walk where we’ll explore the largest cave entrance in Wales. From there we walk along the trail leading to Sgwd Clun-Gwyn (the fall of the white meadow), Sgwd Isaf Clun-Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr (which was once used for washing Welsh wool) and Sgwd-yr-Eira (the waterfall of snow) on the River Mellte in the heart of Waterfall Country. The final waterfall, Sgwd-yr-Eira is the most photographed as you can walk behind the curtain of water on a path once used by sheep farmers. The walk itself is just under 4 miles and follows an easy route that is suitable for all levels.
We’ll then head back to Buckland Hall late afternoon for another yoga class followed by dinner and an evening yoga nidra & gong bath. If you’re still awake after that (!) you can spend the rest of the evening curled up near one of the fireplaces.
Sunday 03 September:
We’ll start off at 830am with an invigorating yoga class before breakfast.
After breakfast you’ll have the option of exploring the grounds on your own or a quick hike up a hill that provides an amazing view of the Black Hills.
Lunch is served at Buckland Hall at 1pm, after which we’ll enjoy a final restorative yoga session and closing gong ceremony.
Departure is 3pm.
Buckland Hall is set in the spectacular countryside of the Brecon Beacons National Park, surrounded by mountains with vistas along the Usk Valley. From the days of Arthur, through a medieval prince of Wales to Lord Buckland, the site has been home for generations of families and hobbits (Buckland Hall was reportedly the inspiration for J R R Tokien in choosing the childhood home for Frodo Baggins, when the author was in the area). Now its doors welcome you to experience the comfort and therapeutic qualities of this idyllic country mansion.
At Buckland Hall with 60 acres of gardens, parkland and miles of country walks along the River Usk, you’ll find plenty of space in which to roam and unwind. Some of the specimen trees in the arboretum are over 400 years old. The ornamental lake with its graceful swans is a particular haven of tranquility.
All rooms are ensuite and most overlook the gardens and have stunning views of the mountains and river Usk. The bedrooms are decorated simply and tastefully offering a wonderfully relaxing environment. You can reserve a double or twin room or limited availability triple rooms.
