Having worked in events, I’m used to getting some pretty unusual phone calls but when the producers of The Only Way is Essex rang to ask if I’d like to go teach paddleboard yoga (which they kept calling paddle yoga) to their cast members I was not quite sure what to say.
Details for organising the shoot started off a bit hazy. They weren’t sure if it would be outside, ‘ummm, could you get access to a boat maybe, in Essex, for us to shoot from?’ or if they could find an indoor pool in time. Late on Monday night they called to confirm that they found an indoor pool and could we (with Active 360) come along the next morning. They requested ten boards and wetsuits. I questioned the wetsuits, if we were going to be filming inside but the producer assured me the cast might not feel comfortable being filmed in swimming costumes.
So after a very often interrupted ‘class’ I was fully caught up on what was happening in the world of Essex but there was still just one thing left to do…
Kidding aside, they were all really lovely to work with and it was certainly an interesting afternoon and hopefully it will convince even more people that the only way is sup.
With thanks again to Active 360 for helping to make it happen.. Sadly, yoga classes are not running over the colder months (unless you have a pool that fits ten boards, then feel free to get in touch). But you can still paddleboard to your heart’s content all winter long.. wet suits included.
See you in the Spring. x
